The Girl I Love There is a girl that I wanted to love but she lived so very far from me, One day sitting there all alone it suddenly occurred to me I'd better jump up, turn around, take a look at what I'd found Step back, not be slack, and never let my feelings lack, and so I Grabbed my hat, grabbed the keys, tripped on the cat and skinned my knees Across the porch, and down the stairs, into the car and then I Turned the key to the engine & the motor began to sing La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la. La la..... Now I'm at the home of the girl I love, and look up and what do I see There is the woman that I've always loved waiting in her doorway for me So she looks at me in my eye, begins to glow and cracks a smile I jump out the car, head for the place, trip and fall flat on my face And I go up the stairs, across the porch, & when we touch we start to scorch The cops applaud, the neighbors scream, they can't believe what they have seen They all called somebody & everyone began to sing La la.....
